Overview

This qualification enables candidates to maintain efficient and safe pool plant operations in modern, high tech swimming pool operations

Description

This course is divided into four modules that cover all aspects of efficient swimming pool plant operations and maintenance of safe pool water quality

Unit 1: Principles of swimming pool plant operation
Unit 2: Pool water testing methods and equipment
Unit 3: Management of swimming pool water quality
Unit 4: Swimming pool plant operations

Unit 1: Principles of swimming pool plant operation

  • Responsibilities of swimming pool operators
  • Pool water contamination, sources, removal and treatments
  • Swimming pool hygiene and cleaning.
  • 4 point plan for good pool hygiene
  • Pool water circulation system
  • Pool water temperatures
  • Disinfection of swimming pool water

Unit 2: Pool water testing methods and equipment

  • Record keeping

Unit 3: Management of swimming pool water quality

  • Implications of mains water supply and quality
  • Disinfection of pool water, Hypochlorites, Bromine, Electrolytic generation of hypochlorite, Ozone, U.V.
  • Chemistry effects of pH on chlorine chemistry
  • pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, total dissolved solids and pool water balance
  • Disinfection systems and practices related to the various chemicals
  • Diagnostics and control of pool water chemistry
  • Microbiological monitoring

  • Staged process of pool water treatment

Duration

Three day course

Assessment

Test paper on day 3 of the course and work based assignment. Completed assignment to be returned to the assessor by the appointed date.

On the day

The course will run from 09:30 to 16:30 each day, unless otherwise advised

There will be one 45 minute lunch break at 12:30 each day and a 10 minute coffee break each morning and afternoon

Timings may be adjusted to suit local circumstances

Price

The cost of this course is £280.00 plus VAT per candidate
